ATTACQ and LaunchLab Smart Cities Innovation Platform now open!
4 September – The ATTACQ Smart Cities Innovation Pitching Platform has kick- started on participating campuses around the country; Stellenbosch University (SU), The University of Western Cape (UWC), The University of Cape Town (UCT), The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), The University of Johannesburg (UJ), WITS University, Central University of Technology and The University of Pretoria.
ATTACQ and LaunchLab recently hosted a workshop where budding entrepreneurs and startups engaged with ATTACQ over building the smartest urban development in Africa together with the LaunchLab. The world of retail is changing, and ATTACQ has decided to take it up another level, by bringing technologies into ATTACQ’s properties, including Waterfall City, to make it the premier location in Gauteng to live, work and play. We are looking for entrepreneurs with solutions that address opportunities in:
- Location technologies
- “Black screen” technology
- Technology to improve experiences in spaces where people live, work and play.
The contest is open to all aspiring entrepreneurs from student and non-student communities and from concept to an existing business, running until the 29th of September. It is an innocuous platform for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs to pitch their smart cities business ideas and stand a chance to win their share of R100 000 for direct business needs and LaunchLab incubation support to the value of R150 000.
The final judging event will be hosted at the Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab in Stellenbosch on 16 October 2017.
Participants can enter their business ideas by doing an informal 3- minute video pitch with no digital presentations – recorded at the various campuses mentioned above or can be submitted online at the following link:http://www.launchlab.co.za/attacq. Entrants may pitch more than one idea, but only one idea can win! Attacq representatives, experienced entrepreneurs, academics and representatives from the local investor community have been selected as judges and will determine the winning ideas.
ATTACQ was founded by property entrepreneurs looking to put their stamp on the local property market, and that spirit runs through the everyday business of ATTACQ. In the dynamic retail environment we felt it was necessary to be part of the change, rather than just accepting change when it came to our world class shopping mall portfolio. Our initial partnership with Launch Lab has proved to be very successful and we are very excited to turn our focus in innovation toward the idea of living in a smart city.”-Michael Clampett-Head of Asset Management: Retail, ATTACQ.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make your business idea a reality – book your pitching slot today to stand a chance to become the innovative driver of smart urban development in Africa!
Throughout the challenge, progress and news will be shared online and on social media platforms, utilising the hashtag #ATTACQSmartChallenge.
