Prof. Richard Gordon (PhD, ACIM, Health Lead)
Richard was the Executive Director of the Grants, Innovation and Product Development groups at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). He has held a number of international positions and specializes in establishing innovation-based international research partnerships. Richard completed his Ph.D. at the University of Cape Town and his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge.

Richard currently represents South African on the EU-led Joint Program for Anti-Microbial Research consisting of 29 countries. He is a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee for Anti-Microbial resistance and is an Extraordinary Professor at North West University where he leads the DSI API cluster program. He is a consultant to Medicines for Malaria Venture.

Dr. Yaw O. Ansong Jr

Yaw is a physician-scientist interested in solving basic engineering problems and translating them into the real world. In 2020 he completed his Doctor of Philosophy – PhD (Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering) at the Univesity of California, Berkeley.

He is the Founder and CEO of KovaDx, VC backed company that is building an AI diagnostic platform for blood diseases. They are bridging the health disparity faced by people with sickle cell and blood morphological diseases.
